There is many things that a soldier may fight for. A legal system that does not allow a young boy who makes a serious mis-judgement a fighting chance or a second chance has never and will never be named as one of those motives. Perhaps we should take another look at this whole incident with an un-bias and understanding vision. Such cases cannot be just when so much power is in the hands of so few, to determine the fate of a 14-year-old boy when no real or permanent harm has been inflicted. The victem will surely continue her day to day life after a brief period of mental recovery, and surely live a full and healthy life.
My son recently joined the Young Marines and instantly became friends with Brent. My son was not aware of Brent's ongoing legal woes nor did it affect him in any way when Brent shared with Josh the reason he HAD to be home at a certain time. It was very hard for us to believe a kid (Brent) could have such a positive influence on my son and be in so much trouble and not let it reflect in a negative way. We are proud to be friends with Brent and his wonderful, caring family. Please take a moment to learn all of the GOOD things about Brent as we have.
Yeah, we're going to have to start relaxing laws and reducing the profit in convictions. No more careers made by grandstanding television justice. Don't fight impulsive fear with endless restrictions and complex statutes. An individual with a basic, 5th grade education should be able navigate the legal system without hampering his goals. That hasn't been true since 1859. Let's reverse the trend.
